Emily Scarlett Romain

London-based photographer Emily Scarlett Romain graduated from Nottingham Trent University, after studying a BA (Hons) Photography course.

She began her career working alongside internationally acclaimed American photographer Ryan McGinley at his studio in New York, an experience which inspired her to later take up photography full time as a platform to express her ideas.

Drawing inspiration from the elements of light and shadow; the striking beauty and diversity of the human form, and also from her passion for travel, Emily’s images have a dreamy and naturalistic intensity, often forming a narrative about the vision of youth, with a bold cinematic feel, always allowing the viewer to personalise and imagine themselves within the scene, creating a positive balance through confident compositions and an inviting aesthetic.

Emily’s commercial clients include All Saints, MissGuided, Pull & Bear, Topshop, Topman and Ted Baker, and her work has appeared online for Amuse, Badlands 777, i-D and Vice.
